Difficulties, Not strong enough to stop you 2

By Adenuga Sunday Joseph

We made all the effort we could but at the end of the day we were disgraced out of the house because the court bailiefs came to pack out our load in our very presence. They came on the order of the court, unknown to us that the land lady had secured such a judgement against us, we continued to live in the house until that fateful morning when they came to throw out our load from the court.

Can you imagine the situation when your properties are packed out of your house where you are known and respected as a responsible man in the society! Even the horror of facing your own very children to explain the situation is almost unbearable, it is a shame of the highest order. That is exactly what my wife and I passed through, it was a tough time for us, but I always remember the phrase credited to Robbert Schuller, "tough times never last but tough people do" I decided to be a toughie, that though those times were tough, I would develop a tougher attitude. I made up my mind to let go of any pride, to build my wealth back even from the ground floor again. I was determined more than ever to make it. Difficulties that I was facing was not sufficient to discourage me or to scare me from planning to do greater things in life.

Suddenly, one day, I was able to get a copy of SUCCESS DIGEST EXTRA, a publication of Success Attitude Development Center, Lagos, Nigeria. I read through with great interest, I soon discovered that a week long workshop on Internet would be taking place late february 2008 tagged Demystifying The Internet IV. I managed to get the money to enrol for the course, I needed more than the amount specified because I would be traveling about less than 200KM to get to the venue and I would also need to prepare or get money ready for my food.

At the end of the week long seminar/workshop, I developed a liking for one of our lecturers, Mrs Iyabo Oyawale who further explained things to me more perfectly at no extra cost. May the Lord bless this dear sister. From then on I began to do one or two things via the internet and the money began to come in little by little, I can tell you to the glory of God that level is changing fast.

You too can still make it, just keep at it, keep doing the right things, you will overcome like I did.

Difficulties, Not strong enough to stop you

By Adenuga Sunday Joseph

No matter the level of the problems and difficulties you are presently going through, it may seem as if your whole world is coming to an end, I have a feeling in my heart that God is saying to you that you will go through.

Let me just share with you the story of my life when I had to completely cast all my cares onto the Lord. I was already doing fine, graduated at the age of 22+ in one of Nigeria's prestigious universities (Unilag), founded a thriving Nursery and primary school in Ibadan, Nigeria, bought cars, and was even giving out cars as gifts to others. I was succeeding by all standard.

All of a sudden, things began to take the negative turn, the enrolment of students in my school began to take the downward trend, you know this means lower income, and that means a lot. Events began to happen one after the other, most of the valuable possessions were either sold, stolen or lost. All these things happened in quick succession, the greatest intension of the devil was to break my heart, discourage me, and make me loose my testimony.

But I was all the more determined to be even more successful despite the torrents of evil things happening, I refuse to allow the negative situations arround me to dictate my mood. I must be frank with you, it was one of the hardest things to do on earth, to keep faith in the face of discouragement from friends and family. It is not easy to be hearing what they are saying and keep the faith, many will say it to your face that you are here because of sin, some will say because you were bad in the first place, others will make jest of you, many will experience their pleasure at your fall. All these should make you to go to work to surprise them that even you can still make it.

Many people who could not even raise up their head when I was talking in the good old days now started coming forward to offer their own advise on how I should run my life. Everybody now turned themselves to my coach, many of the advise were not worthy, infact more than ninety percent had to be thrown away. I was just observing and studying human beings, many thought that was my end, and that nothing good can come out of my Nazareth. Many good old friends would not want to have anything to do with me anymore. I remember going to beg for a soft loan from a very close friend, an amount I figured out he should be able to sqeeze out for me. He not only turned me down, he said some words I will never forget because from what he said you will know that he doesnt believe I can get out of the ruts. But thank God today I did. That was the reason why I reiterated my vow that I will never go a borrow in my life forever.

It got to the climax, I sold my house, my wife and I together with all our children began to live in rented apartment. One day the Landlady made effort to throw out our properties out of her house. To be continued

The Power of Persistence

By Adenuga Sunday Joseph

One of the most important factors of success in the universe is persistence. This is the ability to stick your neck out on something you believe in despite all the contrary circumstances. To every call in life there is always a time of wilderness experience, a time of difficulties, challenges and temptation when one seriously considers giving up what one is doing.

Even our Lord Jesus christ came to a point in His life and ministry (or business), that He really wished the cup would pass over Him. Persistence is not the absence of difficulties, it is going ahead doing what you believe inspite of difficulties, oppositions, discouragement, lack of flow of finance and all forms of evil that is hell bent in making you to pack it all up.

Let me assure you that there will be opposition and discouragement along your way if you are going to do anything worthwhile. Valuable things and accomplishment have a way of attracting forces of opposition and difficulties especially in the beginning. Learn to face life; to face difficulties; to face opposition with a determination to not only complete the task at hand but to finish it gloriously. Right inside of you is a creative power inbuilt by God to overcome every difficulties, you have that thing in you that can win any battle in life.

Please do not ever forget this, you are more than that task, you can do all things, as long as you are alive you are equal to any task. Never give up, you can make it big, so face it and do it, never fall short of accomplishing that thing you set out to do in the first place.

Profiting Through Every Opportunities

By Grelohi

Majority of people never achieve true success and fortune, because they always wait for the big opportunity, which never comes. The world is filled to the brim with abundant opportunities. It however takes the binoculars of God to see these opportunities.

I am going to illustrate the above statement with a thought provoking story. Two friends Visited India on vacation. While there, they saw lots of people walking on bare feet. One said to the other, “See the level of poverty!” But the other saw a shoe factory. He returned home and began designing shoes, and not only established a shoe factory, which made him a multi-millionaire.

Some see obstacles, while others see opportunities. Never wait for that big break, because it may never come. Build from what you know and love and begin to niche your way to success. No idea is too small to be ignored.

You can make a surprising amount of money from a very small but focused idea, even if others tell you there is no market! We expose ourselves to failure when we foolishly wait for the right opportunity or condition to come before venturing to make a move. There is no guarantee that your life will get better with time; you must take tangible steps to ensure it. The passing of time does not guarantee the improvement of life, but only what is done in the passing time that does.

If you refuse to do anything to improve your circumstances, you will be where you are today in the next four years. You must stop dreaming and start doing. When you see an opportunity, leap on it. Gone are the days when you wait for the ship to berth. You got to swim into the water and jump into the ship.

H.I. Hunt, the great American oil Magnet, was once asked the secret of his success. He replied: “ success requires two things only. First, you must know exactly what you want. Unfortunately, most people never make this decision. Second, you must determine the price that you will have to pay to achieve it and then get busy paying the price”

Creating Wealth

Written by Grelohi

Research carried out more than two years ago in the United States of America, showed that more than one hundred billionaires were been made yearly. 80% of these billionaires were business owners!

The above statistics simply points to one fact: you can never be truly wealthy working for someone else. The best way to secure your future, is to own a business of your own. Wealth creation starts from the inside of an individual. It is a function of the mind. Whatever you think on your inside will manifest outside. To be a wealth creator, you must have achievable goals and dream big.

Creating a product or service will enhance your wealth creation profile. You may want to ask, where do I start? You must start from with what you have! Never you despise your gift or talent. “A man’s gift will always make a way for him” Five ways of getting Wealthy·

Through InheritanceIt is common for individuals to inherit their parent’s wealth, after their demise. The danger of acquiring this type of wealth however is that such wealth can be spent carelessly, since the individual didn’t labor for it.·

Working for others: One may be lucky to get a job with the federal, state or local government. It may even be a private establishment. The above facts do not however count toward your goal in creating wealth, because you only end up enriching those you are working for.·

Stealing or Cheating PeopleLot’s of lazy folks follow this ignoble path, and end up becoming wealthy. The problem though, is that they never get to enjoy such ill gotten wealth. Any wealth acquired through dubious means only bring sorrow and pain to the individuals who acquired them.·

Invest in Various Business Opportunities: Investment makes money works for you. Your money multiplies when you invest it. You must however put into consideration, what the various returns on investment can give you when making your investment decisions. Before embarking on any business investment, you must consult a professional and update yourself in the area you wish to invest in. If you don’t have a long-term investment strategy in place, you may fall into the money trap. What are the various investment opportunities available to the average entrepreneurs? They are lots of opportunities in the investment world for one to choose from:¨ Global stock¨Government bonds¨Mutual funds¨Common stocks¨Treasury bills¨Oil and Gas¨Housing and real estate¨Gold/SilverInvesting in business opportunities is one of the safest ways of creating wealth.Remember to always monitor your investment.·

Starting Your own profitable business: This is one of the surest ways of creating wealth. You must however find a business to start, by identifying people’s need. Do a little research by finding out those who are already selling similar products or offering the kind of service.Find out why people are buying their product. Find out how much they are selling. After finding out the above facts, you then go ahead to source fund for your business. This can be achieved by
>> Getting loans from friends and relatives
>>Getting loans from banks
>>Personal savings
The issue of the type of business (sole proprietorship, partnership, limited liability), must have been settled before now.
On a final note, you must seek advice before you register your business.

ROAD SIGN ON YOUR WAY TO CREATE WEALTH¨
Learn to handle frustration¨ Be passionate about wealth creation
Passion + Profitability=Wealth¨
Handle rejection¨ Be focused and creative¨ Give more than what you expect to receive¨ Continually update yourself with current trend

In closing, I would love to share this thought provoking story. Two friends Visited India on vacation. While there, they saw lots of people walking on bare feet. One said to the other, “See the level of poverty!” But the other saw a shoe factory. He returned home and began designing shoes, and not only established a shoe factory, which made him a multi-millionaire.

Tickets To Success:

By Adenuga Sunday Joseph

To pursue success and attain to it, you must be sponsored. Success is like a big mountain, climbing it to the top is a task that needs a lot of assistance, help and input from higher powers and forces. You will observe that few people occupy the top positions in life, business, and government; and even in spiritual arena. The bottom position is so much crowded that there is congestion.

Getting to the top is strictly by admission or by a power sponsoring you. For instance, the president of your country can make you a millionaire in one day. If you are qualified, and he makes you a minister in his cabinet, and you know what you are doing, poverty may never come near your family again in your own generation. If your president likes you and you are qualified; clean honest contract may be awarded to you for execution, and if well executed, you get more contracts and in the process, you become a millionaire. How did that come about? It came because your president sponsored you to the top, in other words you got to the top by the connection and invitation of a higher power or force.

Getting to the top is not possible without having people who loves you, believes in you, and are ready to help you make it to the top. Spiritually, there are sponsors and forces that help people to attain to the top positions of life. Without a spiritual backup or force behind you it is almost impossible to become successful in this evil world.

Sources of spiritual sponsors:

There are only two spiritual forces in the universe, the forces of GOD and that of the devil. The truth is that the devil can sponsor your trip to the mountaintop of success but I told you earlier, it is not completely free, there is always a very bad string attached to it. Every successful endeavor is either helped to the top by an evil spiritual support or good spiritual support. The good spiritual support is from the Almighty God. He subsidizes and funds people’s trip to the top if invited to do so. This assistance to the top is equally not free; the blood of JESUS pays for it. However we equally have a part to play: we are not to sit down and have Him do everything for us, there are demands. We read the words of our Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 11: 29,30

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me: for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy; and my burden is light.

The yoke of Jesus is easy, but there is a burden too, but it is light. What is this yoke? These yokes are what God expects us to do, some of them are not easy on the surface, but we are helped from the inside to do them. For instance, giving is not easy, to some it is a yoke, but if you give, the Bible says that you will receive in abundance and God cannot lie. It takes faith and rugged determination to follow and obey this injunction.
Paul told Timothy to fight the good fight of faith. You need to be ready to stand your ground in faith, we shall be persecuted for His namesake, and opposition will rise because of our faith. If you stand fast, you shall get there.

Let me explain this with a real life experience that I passed through at the commencement of my ministry. The Lord had said to me, “Go and teach people how to make a good success of their lives in this difficult world.” We started the Success Dimension Church in earnest, but the people refused to come to our church, after a few months some close people suggested we fold up, but I knew what God told me, it was a fight of faith. I had to stay put to fulfill what He has called me to do upon the earth. It was not a very easy yoke to carry on in those early days, many weak people would have abandoned the work and go after other things. It was not easy for me, after preparing a powerful message, get to church and meet nobody apart from my wife and children; but I knew what it takes and thank God today, the story have changed.

I really thank God today that I was made able by Him to stay in that assignment until today. Psalm 75:5,6

For promotion cometh neither from the east; nor from the west; nor from the south. But God is the Judge: He putteth down one, and setteth up another.

Lasting success is a promotion that comes only from the Lord. If you allow the devil to sponsor you, your end will be very calamitous.

Principles Of Success

By Adenuga Sunday Joseph

(1) Identify a human need:-

Lasting success is easy and possible if your life is based on meeting a human need. The basic human needs are food, clothing, health, home (habitation) and happiness. Any business be it service or production that caters for any of the above mentioned will surely get the approval of the people and this means good business for you. If your business is good, then your pocket will be good too. You have to study your environment and your people, see what is the pressing need in your society and help provide the service or product. To meet this need, you may have to be trained in the technology of producing that product or service; you may become an apprentice for some time. You are to do everything that it requires of you.
In the area of meeting the food need of human beings (and indeed all the basic human needs) there are a lot of areas where innovative people like you are needed. People are needed in Agriculture, food processing, animal feeds concentrate etc. Human needs are many and insatiable, but you have the responsibility of discovering that area of need you can help meet for reward that can bring in millions.

Innovation of Strategic method:-

We are in the era of information technology, many people are millionaires today because they have come up with methods of doing business better and are teaching people this methods of how to perform better in their chosen businesses. There are better ways of doing things, if you can study life and come up with strategic methods of doing things better, cheaper and faster then you are in a good business.
In 1996, I got some computer software that introduced our school to new methods of teaching some aspect of mathematics. In the CD Rom, we were taught the whole process – that was an innovation. You have to pray, study the word and meditate upon the word of God. Through meditation, God will open you up to new ideas. This is the reason I took you through the deep teaching of the real you in the earlier chapters. In those chapters, I pointed out to you the importance of your heart and of your thinking process. There are new ways of doing things (business, inclusive of service and production), that will be easier, cheaper, faster and better than the conventional way. Discover these methods and teach them to the operators of these business for cool cash, in this case you will establish and run a consultancy outfit

Setting Plans for Immediate Action:-

Can you imagine the task before the Biblical Noah? When he was told to build an ark that would house all the animals on earth (male and female) the ark would house all these animals for the time space of about one calendar year (or twelve lunar month). For Noah to build such Ark demanded a lot of planning and praying. It must be an ark that would cater for the needs of those animals that thrives only on greens (or vegetations), it would cater for those other animals that feeds on other animals. And none of the animals must be an endangered specie; they must all be cared for and made to survive beyond the time they would spend inside the ark. The most difficult part of this assignment is that all the animals would not be on hunger strike. I studied my bible and found out that Noah and the animals were inside the ark for at least one full year. Many of the animals would not survive a day without water, they must have enough ventilation, must be able to freely move about, some soil of earth must be provided inside the ark for some that needs to hide their eggs inside the soil, and those that needed frequent visit to rivers or ponds must have a kind of an environment that is very close to their ideal natural habitat. And yet, there must be room enough for reproduction and expansion. How was he able to plan for the disposal of human and animal wastes in the same Ark for one year at an age when there was no water system of flushing our human wastes. How did he plan to keep the Ark fresh? What did he do to keep it from smelling bad to prevent an outbreak of diseases? How did he prevent the lions from eating up all other less powerful animals? How was he able to preserve their food and some other perishables at an age when there was no refrigerator and or electricity? Think of all the task and assignment before Noah, nobody can make a success of it without proper planning. On the lighter mood, I watch a movie, my children compelled me to watch it, the title of it was ‘king Kong’. If king Kong was real and Noah had to take both the male and female into the ark, can you imagine how big the ark would be? Even at that, this Kong must survive inside the ark for one full year with all their needs met and without endangering other species of animals. Can you imagine, a few days inside the Ark when the rain was heavy, if Noah suddenly remembered that proper arrangement was not made for some specie of animals, so he then needed to go out to get some materials, the whole expedition would have been a failure. That is how you will understand that Noah really had everything planned out before the rain. Noah definitely needed a lot of wisdom. One thing is to have wisdom to build the ark, another is to have the necessary wisdom to woo the animals to enter the ark; and yet another thing is the wisdom to domesticate the wild animals (without removing their wild nature). Think about the task before Noah. If Noah was given five hundred billion dollars, I doubt if such an ark can be built today. Even if you build it, what of the wisdom needed in getting all specie of animals and birds into the ark and yet arranging and putting each of them into their natural habitat inside the arc. How did Noah make it, how did he succeed at this assignment? Noah set up a plan for immediate action. It is impossible to fail if you plan properly. Plan your life, plan your business and you will not fail. Part of planning is having a time table; you must be able to pencil down what you intend doing from the time you wake up till the time you would go to bed. As you plan your time, be determined to follow your own plans, there is no need to plan if you will not follow it. Planning can help you to make a good success of your life, so plan. Noah succeeded because he followed God’s plan in building the ark.

Unlock Your Self Improvement Power

By Tolulope Adeyemi

When we look at a certain object, a painting for example – we won’t be able to appreciate what’s in it, what is painted and what else goes with it if the painting is just an inch away from our face. But if we try to take it a little further, we’ll have a clearer vision of the whole art work. We reach a point in our life when we are ready for change and a whole bunch of information that will help us unlock our self improvement power. Until then, something can be staring us right under our nose but we don’t see it.

The only time we think of unlocking our self improvement power is when everything get worst. Take the frog principle for example – Try placing Frog A in a pot of boiling water. What happens? He twerps! He jumps off! Why? Because he is not able to tolerate sudden change in his environment – the water’s temperature. Then try Frog B: place him in a luke warm water, then turn the gas stove on. Wait til the water reaches a certain boiling point. Frog B then thinks “Ooh… it’s a bit warm in here”.

People are like Frog B in general. Today, Anna thinks Carl hates her. Tomorrow, Patrick walks up to her and told her he hates her. Anna stays the same and doesn’t mind her what her friends says. The next day, she learned that Kim and John also abhors her. Anna doesn’t realize at once the importance and the need for self improvement until the entire community hates her. We learn our lessons when we experience pain. We finally see the warning signs and signals when things get rough and tough. When do we realize that we need to change diets? When none of our jeans and shirts would fit us. When do we stop eating candies and chocolates? When all of our teeth has fallen off. When do we realize that we need to stop smoking? When our lungs have gone bad. When do we pray and ask for help? When we realize that we’re gonna die tomorrow.

The only time most of us ever learn about unlocking our self improvement power is when the whole world is crashing and falling apart. We think and feel this way because it is not easy to change. But change becomes more painful when we ignore it.Change will happen, like it or hate it. At one point or another, we are all going to experience different turning points in our life – and we are all going to eventually unlock our self improvement power not because the world says so, not because our friends are nagging us, but because we realized its for our own good. Happy people don’t just accept change, they embrace it. Now, you don’t have to feel a tremendous heat before realizing the need for self improvement. Unlocking your self improvement power means unlocking yourself up in the cage of thought that “its just the way I am”. It is such a poor excuse for people who fear and resist change. Most of us program our minds like computers. Jen repeatedly tells everyone that she doesn’t have the guts to be around groups of people. She heard her mom, her dad, her sister, her teacher tell the same things about her to other people. Over the years, that is what Jen believes. She believes its her story. And what happens? Every time a great crowd would troop over their house, in school, and in the community – she tends to step back, shy away and lock herself up in a room. Jen didn’t only believed in her story, she lived it. Jen has to realize that she is not what she is in her story. Instead of having her story post around her face for everyone to remember, she has to have the spirit and show people “I am an important person and I should be treated accordingly!”Self improvement may not be everybody’s favorite word, but if we look at things in a different point of view, we might have greater chances of enjoying the whole process instead of counting the days until we are fully improved. Three sessions in a week at the gym would result to a healthier life, reading books instead of looking at porns will shape up a more profound knowledge, going out with friends and peers will help you take a step back from work and unwind. And just when you are enjoying the whole process of unlocking your self improvement power, you’ll realize that you’re beginning to take things light and become happy.

Monitor Blood Sugar Often

The only data available to manage diabetes care is blood glucose values. As such, it simply makes sense that the more data we have, the better our decisions can be and the more opportunities we'll have to make adjustments in care to maximize the amount of time our kids spend with their blood glucose values in their target ranges.

Since we began asking our readers about blood glucose monitoring frequency in October 1998, we've seen an increase in daily checks from an average of 4.6 to 7.0 times per day. (See the most recent poll on the topic from November 2007.) The trend toward more frequent monitoring is evident in the number of people who report checking more than six times per day, which in November 2007 was 66%. And 21% of our readers report checking ten times a day or more.

One of the hotly debated topics among parents is nighttime blood glucose monitoring. In a poll we ran in March 2007, 39% of readers report checking nighttime blood glucose levels every night. 56% report checking at least once a week. The number of people checking at night is also increasing. Since diabetes doesn't go away during sleep, checking at night makes sense, especially for young kids whose brains are still developing. A growing body of evidence points to more nocturnal hypoglycemia than previously thought and to a greater number of problems associated with nocturnal hypoglycemia.

The bottom line is that blood glucose data is the cornerstone for all diabetes management. Monitor often, and thank your child whenever they check themselves, regardless of the blood glucose number. These numbers aren't "good" or "bad" -- they're just numbers. And they're the most important numbers you have to make a difference in your child's quality of care. Cherish each and every one.

Care Suggestions

Medical science has made great strides in advancing diabetes care practice in recent years. This page summarizes my view of the best care practices as they apply to kids with type 1 diabetes. I am not a doctor -- I'm just a parent who has cared for a child with diabetes since September 1989. I've written this page because I am asked quite often for my opinion on diabetes care, and having all this in one place makes it easy for me to answer. Remember, the information on this page is the opinion of one non-medical person and does not reflect the opinions of anyone else associated with Children with Diabetes. Everything here though is well supported by peer reviewed studies, cited below.

If you're new to diabetes, these recommendations can help you understand what is possible. If you're using a different regimen than is described below and are reaching your diabetes care goals, then there is no reason to change.

Underlying everything on this page is the fact that the patient -- or for kids with diabetes, the parents -- are in charge of their diabetes care. As parents, we are the best advocates for our children. We see our kids everyday, we know how their bodies react to the stresses of school, sports, and everything else that is a part of their lives. Since we're in charge, the choices of which meter to use, whether to use pump therapy and -- if so -- which pump to use, when we'll eat, and everything else related to our care are ours to make. The members of the diabetes team provide guidance based on current medical science, advise us on therapy options, and help us learn how to live our lives as if we didn't have diabetes, to the extent that that is possible. The diabetes team is like the coaching staff of a sporting team, and we are like the players. The coaching staff helps us learn the game, but the game is ours to play and ours to win.

Since diabetes care is highly individualized, you should discuss any change in care with your diabetes team before you do anything.

THE GOD FACTOR IN SUCCESS

By Adenuga Sunday Joseph

God is a God of success. If you read the Bible from Genesis 1: 1-2, you will see the success of God from the very beginning.

In the beginning GOD created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, let there be light: and there was light.

In the beginning, when God created the heaven and the earth, three things happened: number one, the earth became formless; number two, the earth became void; and number three, darkness covered the earth. It was a period of confusion, but God was not confused, neither was He disturbed: He only spoke and success followed. A good look at the universe will convince you that God is a big success. Yes, He is a super success. No matter from which perspective you look and consider what success really is, God is really the biggest success. He is rich, and everything is in super abundance in the universe. Lets consider the riches of God in this our universe; as we do this you will observe with awe His wisdom, power and orderliness.

This earth contains about seven continents; they are Africa, America, Antarctica, Asia, Australia, Europe, and South America. Each of these continents is a very large mass of land containing different types of living and non-living things, many countries and nations are in these continents. Apart from Antarctica (which is another mystery on earth), all other continents house millions of people of different ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds. Apart from these, there are many islands that stands alone and do not belong to any continent. Many rivers, seas and oceans surround the earth, mountains, vegetations, and a lot of natural resources are hidden in the depth of the earth. All these were created by the Almighty God and belong to God. Psalm 24: 1. The resources on earth cannot be fully comprehended; they are beyond the comprehension of any single human being no matter how brilliant he may be. Beyond the earth, we have the moon; the moon orbits the earth and revolves round it. Few people have traveled to the moon, the discovery of those men reveals that the moon is not habitable by any living being and besides the gravity of earth is different from that of the moon.

Now our earth and moon belongs to a solar system, this consist of the sun and nine planets, this earth is just one of them. There are some planets in this solar system that are far bigger than the earth in as much as one thousand times. Some planets have about eighteen moons orbiting them; and you know what? None of these planets can support any type of life apart from our planet, earth. Scientists have sent space probes to many of these planets and found out that the conditions in all these planets cannot support plant or animal life. Water does not exist in liquid form in many of these planets; some are extremely hot while some are extremely cold. The earth is the only planet found to be conducive to support plant and animal life. Another interesting thing I want you to know is the existence of asteroid belt. Containing many asteroids. Our solar system is very big; the size of it is beyond human imagination. Now when I first learnt of this I was dumbfounded, what is it? That the sun of our solar system is just a star, it belongs to a galaxy of stars called the ‘milky way’. This galaxy have about one hundred billion stars and our sun is just one of them. Do you know that this our sun even though it is a million times bigger than the earth, it is not considered as one of the big stars in the milky way galaxy. Another thing is that some of those stars may also have their own solar systems with planets orbiting them. Scientists even claimed that some stars have been discovered to have one or two planets orbiting them and that many other stars may have more than nine planets in their solar systems.

Are you following me with understanding? This is God’s creation, how big, how vast? That is not all; the Milky Way is not the only galaxy of stars in the universe, there are about one hundred billion observable galaxy of stars, and each of these galaxies also have about one hundred billion stars. WOW! Can you do the mathematics? Find out in one minute the number of stars there is in the universe, (that’s just a joke anyway). The truth is that God’s creation is so vast, so rich, there is an abundance of all things, and you can’t know everything God has created. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 8: 17

Then I beheld all the work of God, that a man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun: because though a man labor to seek it out, yet he shall not find it; yea further; though a wise man think to know it, yet shall he not be able to find it.

Setting Smart Goals

Having goals helps you feel in control and can give you a sense of purpose. Keep setting new goals for yourself. Don't limit yourself to one or two. The SMART process is a good way to set and meet goals.

Specific

Make goals specific. For instance, plan to walk 20 minutes each morning instead of just deciding to get in shape. Start by asking yourself, "What do I want to have happen?" Try to choose goals that deal with behavior, not feelings.

Measurable

Choose goals that have results you can measure. Then decide on the steps you need to take to reach the main goal. Give yourself a deadline, such as a week, a month, or six months from now.

Achievable

Think about what you can honestly achieve. Goal setting is a good way to push yourself beyond your current limits. So pick a goal that requires some effort. But choose a goal that you have a real chance of reaching. For instance, you may not be able to run a marathon, but over time you can increase how long you walk.

Rewarding

Reaching your goals feels great. But find extra ways to reward yourself along the way. For instance, buy a new pair of walking shoes when you can walk 6 blocks without stopping. Plan rewards ahead of time so you have something to look forward to.

Trackable

Keeping track of your progress will help you stay motivated. Try noting what you achieve each day on a chart or in a diary. Describe how you feel about your progress.

Your SMART Goal

Take a look at the sample goal below. Then write out your own SMART goal on a piece of paper or in a journal.

Sample Goal:

S: You will cook dinner for friends who have helped and supported you.

M: You will have reached your goal when they sit down to eat your famous low-fat lasagna.

A: It would be too much work to cook one meal for all the people who have helped you. So you decide to have two dinner parties and invite four friends each time.

R: Once you have all the details planned, you buy a new cookbook you've been wanting.

T: You make a checklist of things to do, such as buying fresh Parmesan cheese, setting the table, and baking bread.

Diabetes: Living Your Life

Having diabetes may mean adjustments at work and in your social life. But these changes need not keep you from succeeding at work and enjoying your leisure time.

Family and Friends

Your family and friends may have questions about diabetes. They may have a hard time understanding why you need to make changes in your life. Urge them to learn about diabetes with you. Spend time with friends who support you in taking good care of yourself.

Special Occasions

Parties and holidays often involve more or different food and drink. You can still enjoy special occasions:

  • At parties, focus on enjoying music, dancing, or talking to friends.

  • When going to a party, bring a snack or appetizer that works well for you.

  • Before the next holiday, learn how to fit traditional foods into your meal plan.

  • Religious holidays may involve fasting or other changes in the way you eat. Talk to your doctor, your dietitian, and your clergy about how you can observe holidays safely.

Work

Lunch meetings, shift changes, or business travel may affect diabetes management.

  • Make managing your diabetes a priority. If your work schedule changes often or you find it hard to manage your daily tasks, talk to your healthcare provider and your employer.

  • You may need to make special arrangements to do your daily diabetes management tasks, such as checking your blood sugar.

  • Unless having diabetes makes you unable to do your job safely, discrimination on the basis of your health is illegal.

Tell your healthcare provider if you’re feeling helpless or hopeless, or are having trouble sleeping or eating. These are symptoms of depression, a serious but treatable problem.

WHAT DO YOU DO AFTER DIOGNOSIS?

If you or a family member has been diagnosed with a serious or chronic condition, you likely have a lot of questions about treatment and long-term health.

Some conditions, such as cancer, may have more than one possible treatment. Doing some research on your own can give you enough information to make good decisions, says the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).

Newspapers, magazines, TV shows, and the Internet provide lots of health information—some of it reliable, some not. The following tips can help you find information on your condition from reputable sources.

Contact health groups

Groups such as the American Diabetes Association and the American Lung Association can provide a wealth of free information. They can also refer you to local chapters that can offer help through support groups.

These organizations have toll-free numbers and Internet sites you can find by visiting the National Health Information Center.

Visit the library

Ask the librarian to help you find information on your condition in medical and health care journals, reference books, and magazines. But be aware that much of the health information found in general consumer magazines may not be sound or up to date. Make sure the information comes from a reputable source, such as a government, research, or health association.

Get online

You can use the Internet to find good health and treatment information, as long as you are cautious, the AHRQ says.

Many sites provide information that's inaccurate, even dangerous. Make sure the source is medically sound, such as those found at http://www.healthfinder.gov, or an accredited association, such as Mental Health America. Or find a site sponsored by a medical school or university medical center.

You also can search for articles about your illness by visiting the National Library of Medicine's online catalog of medical journal articles.

Finally, visit the National Guideline Clearinghouse, a government-sponsored resource that provides guidelines for the treatment of most common health conditions.

Get a second opinion

If your doctor recommends surgery, chemotherapy, or another treatment with substantial risk, get a second opinion from a surgeon or specialist.

Make an informed decision

After collecting information, meet with your health care provider. Together you can decide on your immediate treatment and how you'll handle long-term management of your condition.

Work with your health care provider on a treatment plan you can stick with, the AHRQ says. You're more likely to stick to your plan if you've taken an active role in determining the details.

Serious illnesses affect people physically, mentally, and emotionally. Asking for support from a variety of sources can help reduce your fear and anxiety, as well as play a role in your successful recovery or management of your condition.

For the maximum benefit, seek help from:

  • Family and friends. Close and supportive family and friends can make a positive impact on your health, especially during a health crisis, the AHRQ says. One way to start is to ask people you're close to for help with specific tasks or problems.

  • Mental health counselor. A counselor or therapist can help you learn to cope with depression, fear, anxiety, and other emotions or issues you're having trouble dealing with. Your doctor can give you a referral, if necessary.

  • Support groups. Joining a group of people with the same condition who get together to discuss their illnesses and share their feelings can help you cope better with the management of your disease. Your doctor, place of worship, or health organizations, such as the American Cancer Society, can help you find an appropriate support group in your area.

THE VALUE OF HELP 2

By Adenuga Sunday Joseph

If you compare this generation with the past generation of people who had lived on planet earth, you will discover that this one is better than all others because most people in this era are out to invent things that helps humans to be much more comfortable on the earth.

About one hundred years ago, nobody could have imagined that thousands of people would be flying across nations through aircraft. Today, many thousands of people are daily traveling by air, nobody can cant the number of people who are air bound daily (that is those flying from one place to another across the globe). I was in Muritala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos Nigeria and was counting the number of planes landing and taking off, I got tired after counting up to eighty within five hours interval. I do not know the number of people in each aircraft.

People are working to earn money but those who work to make or produce things that helps to improve other people's lives will earn more money in real life with time. If what you are doing will not add value to others; if it will not lend a helping hand to others, then I admonish you to change gear and look for something you can do to help as many people as possible. Money answers to providing a solution to people's problems, and the more problems you are able to solve for people the more money you will have. Its as simple as A B C. Real success begins when you begin to make your work count in helping other people to live a better life.

War has reduced greatly in this generation due to the determination of human race to build rather than destroy, we value human lives now than they did in the times when war was the order of the day. This generation of people are building, working and helping each other. The result is the sophisticated cities we have built across the world. Human being have built gadgets that helps us to launch space stations where scientists lived for more than a year to carry out experiments that helps us to improve our planet. The little things done by individuals here and there to help each other has brought this world to this level of advancement that I am sure the Almighty God Himself will be proud of man's achievement on the earth. Why? Because God commanded man to be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth and subdue it. Not only that but that we should als have dominion over every created things.

Now man, with the help to each other and cooperation with each other, have competed with bird in the air and won because no bird can fly out of the earth's atmosphere. He also competed with the fish in the sea and won, for no fish can perform the feat that man can inside the ocean.

Let me conclude by asking you this salient question.
What is your own contribution to this word and this planet?
In what way are you helping others?

You daily receive help - consciously and many times unconsciously, how do you plant back what you are reaping? It is the only way to keep the earth moving. Don't you know that each time you use the phone, though you paid for the services, but you were helped. Each time you visited the hospital and received medical solutin,it is an invaluable help irrespective of the amount of money paid by you. Let us begin to appreciate these things. Our fore fathers suffered because of these things and we have them freely because some people invested their lives and times to develop these things. So now, what do you want to add to life? Do you want to live this earth only taking and taking without giving anything back to help others?

Requirement For Victory In Life's Battles

By Adenuga Sunday Joseph

The first requirement for victory in life’s battle is THE WORD. You must be full of the word. Jesus Christ, the Lord said ‘if you abide in me and my word abide in you, you will ask anything and it shall be done unto you’. The word of God is very essential to victory in life’s battle, it is the sword of the spirit {See Ephesians. 6:17 and Hebrews. 4:12}. The word is one of our weapons of warfare, and it is not carnal; but mighty through God, it is an offensive weapon used in attacking any problem. I have not seen the problem that can stand in the face of the word of God: one’s you lift up the word in the face of that problem, it must bow. Some claim that they use the word and it does not work, well, the word works. You have not used the word of God long enough that is why you think it has not worked. I have seen it work again and again, and that may be the reason God commanded me to name the ministry “The Word Works Ministry”.

God’s word is His work. The apostles said “… we will devote ourselves … to the ministry of the word” Act 6:4. To do the works of God: which includes winning the devil in battles. You must devote yourself to the word of God. The word of God is the work of God. Now, follow me. Some people asked Jesus in John 6:28
“What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus said in John 6:29 “This is the work of God that ye believe on Him whom He hath sent.

God had sent His son Jesus, and Jesus is the word of God. When you believe the word, when you speak the word, when you devote yourself to the word, then you are doing the works of God.
If you read Genesis Chapter 1, you will observe that the major instrument used for creation was the word. No effort was recorded, no other work was mentioned other than “…And God said, let there be … and there was …” The only work God did apart from the word was the creation of man (and woman). Firstly, He spoke, “Let us make man …”. Secondly, he moulded the image with dust of the earth. Thirdly, he breathe on man, and man became a living soul. Apart from man, all created things (and beings) were spoken into existence
Though faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things, which are seen, were not made of things which do appear. Heb. 11:3

And the Bible says God rested on the seventh day. The work He did was the word he spoke. This is the reason why many of us preachers get very tired after finishing sessions of preaching and prayers. Those who are involved in deliverance will agree with me that they get tired after the deliverance session, because they use God’s creative word in the process.
If anyone is sick, speak the word and God will work the works of healing. If anyone is poor, speak the word and God will work the works of prosperity. If anyone is dying, speak the word and God will work the works of life. If anyone is bound, speak the word and God will work the works of deliverance. In the battle of life, speak the word and victory is SURE because God will work each time you speak the word of God, then God is ready to be at work. Using water, spiritual materials like candles, cross, oil for spiritual battle will not give you victory. Victory comes when the word is proclaimed by faith. The word is the work.

Healing, prosperity, deliverance are works only the word can do. Even the greatest miracle on earth, salvation is made possible only through the ministry of the word. Follow the word and the spirit of God will use you greatly. Have you ever seen where someone got saved through the use of candle or anointing oil? It is only through the word that a criminal can be transformed to a saint. There is a place (though) for the anointing oil, anointed handkerchiefs e.t.c. Follow the word and you are set and ready for miracles, be filled with the word and the spirit will overshadow you. If the word of God is removed or taken away, almost nothing is left of the work of God. No word, no work, know the word, and know victory

Diabetics Diet and Treatment

One of the best way to check complicity in the case of diabetes is eating the right kind of food, doing the right kind of exercise, and taking the right drugs at the right time. If you follow this suggestion you will have no problem whatsoever.

Treatment

There is no cure for diabetes. Treatment involves medicines, diet, and exercise to control blood sugar and prevent symptoms and complications.

LEARN THESE SKILLS

Basic diabetes management skills will help prevent the need for emergency care. These skills include:

  • How to recognize and treat low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) and high blood sugar (hyperglycemia)
  • What to eat and when
  • How to take insulin or oral medication
  • How to test and record blood glucose
  • How to test urine for ketones (type 1 diabetes only)
  • How to adjust insulin or food intake when changing exercise and eating habits
  • How to handle sick days
  • Where to buy diabetes supplies and how to store them

After you learn the basics of diabetes care, learn how the disease can cause long-term health problems and the best ways to prevent these problems. People with diabetes need to review and update their knowledge, because new research and improved ways to treat diabetes are constantly being developed.

SELF-TESTING

If you have diabetes, your doctor may tell you to regularly check your blood sugar levels at home. There are a number of devices available, and they use only a drop of blood. Self-monitoring tells you how well diet, medication, and exercise are working together to control your diabetes and can help your doctor prevent complications.

The American Diabetes Association recommends that premeal blood sugar levels fall in the range of 80 to 120 mg/dL and bedtime blood levels fall in the range of 100 to 140 mg/dL. Your doctor may adjust this depending on your circumstances.

WHAT TO EAT

You should work closely with your health care provider to learn how much fat, protein, and carbohydrates you need in your diet. A registered dietician can be very helpful in planning dietary needs.

People with type 1 diabetes should eat at about the same times each day and try to be consistent with the types of food they choose. This helps to prevent blood sugars from becoming extremely high or low.

Persons with type 2 diabetes should follow a well-balanced and low-fat diet.

HOW TO TAKE MEDICATION

Medications to treat diabetes include insulin and glucose-lowering pills called oral hypoglycemic drugs.

Persons with type 1 diabetes cannot make their own insulin, so daily insulin injections are needed. Insulin does not come in pill form. Injections that are generally needed one to four times per day. Some people use an insulin pump, which is worn at all times and delivers a steady flow of insulin throughout the day. Other people may use a new type of inhaled insulin.

Insulin preparations differ in how quickly they start to work and how long they remain active. Sometimes different types of insulin are mixed together in a single injection. The types of insulin to use, the doses needed, and the number of daily injections are chosen by a health care professional trained to provide diabetes care.

People who need insulin are taught to give themselves injections by their health care providers or diabetes educators.

Unlike type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes may respond to treatment with exercise, diet, and medicines taken by mouth. There are several types of medicines used to lower blood glucose in type 2 diabetes. They fall into one of three groups:

  1. Medications called oral sulfonylureas that increase insulin production by the pancreas.
  2. Medications called thiazolidinediones that help increase the cell's sensitivity (responsiveness) to insulin.
  3. Medications that delay absorption of glucose from the gut. These include acarbose and miglitol.

There are some injectable medicines used to lower blood sugar. They include exenatide and pramlintide.

Most persons with type 2 diabetes will need more than one medication for good blood sugar control within 3 years of starting their first medication. Different groups of medications may be combined or used with insulin.

Some people with type 2 diabetes find they no longer need medication if they lose weight and increase activity, because when their ideal weight is reached, their own insulin and a careful diet can control their blood glucose levels.

It is unknown if hypoglycemic medicines taken by mouth are safe for use in pregnancy. Women who have type 2 diabetes and take these medications may be switched to insulin during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.

Gestational diabetes is treated with insulin and changes in diet.

EXERCISE

Regular exercise is especially important for people with diabetes. It helps with blood sugar control, weight loss, and high blood pressure. People with diabetes who exercise are less likely to experience a heart attack or stroke than diabetics who do not exercise regularly. You should be evaluated by your physician before starting an exercise program.

Here are some exercise considerations:

  • Choose an enjoyable physical activity that is appropriate for your current fitness level.
  • Exercise every day, and at the same time of day, if possible.
  • Monitor blood glucose levels before and after exercise.
  • Carry food that contains a fast-acting carbohydrate in case you become hypoglycemic during or after exercise.
  • Carry a diabetes identification card and a mobile phone or change for a payphone in case of emergency.
  • Drink extra fluids that do not contain sugar before, during, and after exercise.

Changes in exercise intensity or duration may need changes in diet or medication dose to keep blood sugar levels from going too high or low.

FOOT CARE

People with diabetes are prone to foot problems because of the likelihood of damage to blood vessels and nerves and a decreased ability to fight infection. Problems with blood flow and damage to nerves may cause an injury to the foot to go unnoticed until infection develops. Death of skin and other tissue can occur.

If left untreated, the affected foot may need to be amputated. Diabetes is the most common condition leading to amputations.

To prevent injury to the feet, people with diabetes should adopt a daily routine of checking and caring for the feet as follows:

  • Check your feet every day, and report sores or changes and signs of infection.
  • Wash your feet every day with lukewarm water and mild soap, and dry them thoroughly.
  • Soften dry skin with lotion or petroleum jelly.
  • Protect feet with comfortable, well-fitting shoes.
  • Exercise daily to promote good circulation.
  • See a podiatrist for foot problems or to have corns or calluses removed.
  • Remove shoes and socks during a visit to your health care provider and remind him or her to examine your feet.
  • Stop smoking, which hinders blood flow to the feet.

Types Of Diabetes

By Adenuga Sunday Joseph

There are basically about three or four types of diabetes, they are:

"Type 1 diabetes" which has universally replaced several former terms, including childhood-onset diabetes, juvenile diabetes, and insulin-dependent diabetes (IDDM).It is characterized by loss of the insulin-producing beta cells of the islets of Langerhans in the pancreas, leading to a deficiency of insulin. The main cause of this beta cell loss is a T-cell mediated autoimmune attack.[3] There is no known preventive measure which can be taken against type 1 diabetes; it is about 10% of diabetes mellitus cases in North America and Europe (though this varies by geographical location), and is a higher percentage in some other areas. Most affected people are otherwise healthy and of a healthy weight when onset occurs. Sensitivity and responsiveness to insulin are usually normal, especially in the early stages. Type 1 diabetes can affect children or adults but was traditionally termed "juvenile diabetes" because it represents a majority of the diabetes cases in children.

The principal treatment of type 1 diabetes, even from its earliest stages, is replacement of insulin combined with careful monitoring of blood glucose levels using blood testing monitors. Without insulin, diabetic ketoacidosis often develops which may result in coma or death. Treatment emphasis is now also placed on lifestyle adjustments (diet and exercise) though these cannot reverse the progress of the disease. Apart from the common subcutaneous injections, it is also possible to deliver insulin by a pump, which allows continuous infusion of insulin 24 hours a day at preset levels, and the ability to program doses (a bolus) of insulin as needed at meal times. An inhaled form of insulin, Exubera, was approved by the FDA in January 2006, although Pfizer discontinued the product for business reasons in October 2007. [9] Non-insulin treatments, such as monoclonal antibodies and stem-cell based therapies, are effective in animal models but have not yet completed clinical trials in humans.[10]

"Type 2 diabetes" has replaced several former terms, including adult-onset diabetes, obesity-related diabetes, and non-insulin-dependent diabetes (NIDDM) is characterized differently due to insulin resistance or reduced insulin sensitivity, combined with reduced insulin secretion. The defective responsiveness of body tissues to insulin almost certainly involves the insulin receptor in cell membranes. In the early stage the predominant abnormality is reduced insulin sensitivity, characterized by elevated levels of insulin in the blood. At this stage hyperglycemia can be reversed by a variety of measures and medications that improve insulin sensitivity or reduce glucose production by the liver. As the disease progresses the impairment of insulin secretion worsens, and therapeutic replacement of insulin often becomes necessary.

There are numerous theories as to the exact cause and mechanism in type 2 diabetes. Central obesity (fat concentrated around the waist in relation to abdominal organs, but not subcutaneous fat) is known to predispose individuals for insulin resistance. Abdominal fat is especially active hormonally, secreting a group of hormones called adipokines that may possibly impair glucose tolerance. Obesity is found in approximately 55% of patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.[11] Other factors include aging (about 20% of elderly patients in North America have diabetes) and family history (type 2 is much more common in those with close relatives who have had it). In the last decade, type 2 diabetes has increasingly begun to affect children and adolescents, likely in connection with the increased prevalence of childhood obesity seen in recent decades in some places.[12] Environmental exposures may contribute to recent increases in the rate of type 2 diabetes. A positive correlation has been found between the concentration in the urine of bisphenol A, a constituent of polycarbonate plastic, and the incidence of type 2 diabetes.
Type 2 diabetes is usually first treated by increasing physical activity, decreasing carbohydrate intake, and losing weight. These can restore insulin sensitivity even when the weight loss is modest, for example around 5 kg (10 to 15 lb), most especially when it is in abdominal fat deposits. It is sometimes possible to achieve long-term, satisfactory glucose control with these measures alone. However, the underlying tendency to insulin resistance is not lost, and so attention to diet, exercise, and weight loss must continue. The usual next step, if necessary, is treatment with oral antidiabetic drugs.

"Type 3 diabetes" among others, gestational diabetes, insulin-resistant type 1 diabetes (or "double diabetes"), type 2 diabetes which has progressed to require injected insulin, and latent autoimmune diabetes of adults. Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) resembles type 2 diabetes in several respects, involving a combination of relatively inadequate insulin secretion and responsiveness. It occurs in about 2%–5% of all pregnancies and may improve or disappear after delivery. Gestational diabetes is fully treatable but requires careful medical supervision throughout the pregnancy. About 20%–50% of affected women develop type 2 diabetes later in life.

Even though it may be transient, untreated gestational diabetes can damage the health of the fetus or mother. Risks to the baby include macrosomia (high birth weight), congenital cardiac and central nervous system anomalies, and skeletal muscle malformations. Increased fetal insulin may inhibit fetal surfactant production and cause respiratory distress syndrome. Hyperbilirubinemia may result from red blood cell destruction. In severe cases, perinatal death may occur, most commonly as a result of poor placental profusion due to vascular impairment. Induction may be indicated with decreased placental function. A cesarean section may be performed if there is marked fetal distress or an increased risk of injury associated with macrosomia, such as shoulder dystoc.
This is particularly problematic as diabetes raises the risk of complications during pregnancy, as well as increasing the potential that the children of diabetic mothers will also become diabetic in the future.

Other types

There are several rare causes of diabetes mellitus that do not fit into type 1, type 2, or gestational diabetes; attempts to classify them remain controversial. Some cases of diabetes are caused by the body's tissue receptors not responding to insulin (even when insulin levels are normal, which is what separates it from type 2 diabetes); this form is very uncommon. Genetic mutations (autosomal or mitochondrial) can lead to defects in beta cell function. Abnormal insulin action may also have been genetically determined in some cases. Any disease that causes extensive damage to the pancreas may lead to diabetes (for example, chronic pancreatitis and cystic fibrosis). Diseases associated with excessive secretion of insulin-antagonistic hormones can cause diabetes (which is typically resolved once the hormone excess is removed). Many drugs impair insulin secretion and some toxins damage pancreatic beta cells. The ICD-10 (1992) diagnostic entity, malnutrition-related diabetes mellitus (MRDM or MMDM, ICD-10 code E12), was deprecated by the World Health Organization when the current

Signs and symptoms

The classical triad of diabetes symptoms is polyuria, polydipsia and polyphagia, which are, respectively, frequent urination, increased thirst and consequent increased fluid intake, and increased appetite. Symptoms may develop quite rapidly (weeks or months) in type 1 diabetes, particularly in children. However, in type 2 diabetes symptoms usually develop much more slowly and may be subtle or completely absent. Type 1 diabetes may also cause a rapid yet significant weight loss (despite normal or even increased eating) and irreducible fatigue. All of these symptoms except weight loss can also manifest in type 2 diabetes in patients whose diabetes is poorly controlled.

When the glucose concentration in the blood is raised beyond its renal threshold, reabsorption of glucose in the proximal renal tubuli is incomplete, and part of the glucose remains in the urine (glycosuria). This increases the osmotic pressure of the urine and inhibits reabsorption of water by the kidney, resulting in increased urine production (polyuria) and increased fluid loss. Lost blood volume will be replaced osmotically from water held in body cells and other body compartments, causing dehydration and increased thirst.

Prolonged high blood glucose causes glucose absorption, which leads to changes in the shape of the lenses of the eyes, resulting in vision changes; sustained sensible glucose control usually returns the lens to its original shape. Blurred vision is a common complaint leading to a diabetes diagnosis; type 1 should always be suspected in cases of rapid vision change, whereas with type 2 change is generally more gradual, but should still be suspected.

Patients (usually with type 1 diabetes) may also initially present with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), an extreme state of metabolic dysregulation characterized by the smell of acetone on the patient's breath; a rapid, deep breathing known as Kussmaul breathing; polyuria; nausea; vomiting and abdominal pain; and any of many altered states of consciousness or arousal (such as hostility and mania or, equally, confusion and lethargy). In severe DKA, coma may follow, progressing to death. Diabetic ketoacidosis is a medical emergency and requires immediate hospitalization.

A rarer but equally severe possibility is hyperosmolar nonketotic state, which is more common in type 2 diabetes and is mainly the result of dehydration due to loss of body water. Often, the patient has been drinking extreme amounts of sugar-containing drinks, leading to a vicious circle in regard to the water loss.

What Is Diabetes?

By Adenuga Sunday Joseph

Diabetes mellitus (Ancient Greek: διαβήτης "to pass through [urine]"), is a syndrome of disordered metabolism, usually due to a combination of hereditary and environmental causes, resulting in abnormally high blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia).[2] Blood glucose levels are controlled by the hormone insulin made in the beta cells of the pancreas.[3]

Diabetes develops due to a diminished production of insulin (in type 1) and resistance to its effects (in type 2 and gestational).[4] Both lead to hyperglycemia, which largely causes the acute signs of diabetes: excessive urine production, resulting compensatory thirst and increased fluid intake, blurred vision, unexplained weight loss, lethargy, and changes in energy metabolism. Monogenic forms[5], e.g. MODY, constitute 1-5 % of all cases.

All types of diabetes have been treatable since insulin became medically available in 1921, but there is no widely available cure for any form of diabetes. Type 1 diabetes can only be treated with injected insulin, with dietary and other lifestyle adjustments commonly being part of the treatment. Type 2 is usually managed with a combination of dietary treatment, tablets and, frequently, insulin supplementation. Insulin can also be delivered continuously by a specialized pump which provides subcutaneous insulin through a temporary catheter.

Diabetes and its treatments can cause many complications. Acute complications may occur if the disease is not adequately controlled. Serious long-term complications (i.e., chronic side effects) include (doubled risk), (which can lead to blindness), nerve damage (of several kinds), and microvascular damage, which may cause impotence and poor wound healing. Poor healing of wounds, particularly of the feet, can lead to gangrene, and possibly to amputation. Adequate treatment of diabetes, as well as increased emphasis on blood pressure control and lifestyle factors (such as not smoking and maintaining a healthy body weight), may improve the risk profile of most of the chronic complications. In the developed world, diabetes is the most significant cause of adult blindness in the non-elderly and the leading cause of non-traumatic amputation in adults, and diabetic nephropathy is the main illness requiring renal dialysis in the United States.[6]

In the next posts I shall elaborate on the types of diabetes, so watch out

The Value of Help

By Adenuga Sunday Joseph

Have you observed that no single human being can survive in life without receiving one form of help or the other from other people? Consider a new born babe in the pool of its mother's blood: it needs help of the nurses as well as that of the mother. My people believes that such new baby must be properly bathe for and thoroughly cleaned up to avoid future bad smell or body odor. if there is no experienced nurse to help clean up the baby immediately after birth, then the damage will be done and for the rest of his life such human being who could not enjoy the help of a nurse will remain with bad body odor throughout his life on earth. Help is essential for every human being both old and young, poor and rich, and of course, male and female.

At every point and stage of our lives we need the help of other people, and lack of such type of help has led many people to loosing valuable things in life and even some have lost their very lives. As you read this article, you may like and admire my style of writing, remember I was not born with this skill, I learnt it, some people helped me by teaching me how to be a good writer at one point or the other, this was done either consciously or unconsciously.

Life would be so boring if we could not get help from other people. The world today is a better place to live in because people are helping each other to live better and achieve greater result. Doctors for example are helping us to restore and maintain our health; Lawyers are helping us to maintain justice, law and order; Teachers are helping us and especially our children to become responsible citizens in future; Farmers are helping us to get good food as at when needed, and so for all the other profession. All sorts of things that people do is to help meet human need.

If what you are doing is not remotely or directly linked with helping meet a human need, then something must be wrong with you and it is not possible to make money at that level of living. Success comes as you help others, the more you help others to become happy and successful the more you will succeed in life, it is as simple as that. It is a pity but there is no other way of becoming successful in life if you refuse to go by this route.

HELP! This is one word that has and action that have made our world a better place and also it differentiate man from animals. There is no kingdom of animals that help each others as much as man does...

To be completed in the next post, watch out.

DOUBT AND FEAR

By Adenuga Sunday Joseph

Doubt and fear are twin brothers that hinder people from flowing in the realm of the supernatural. If you are a Bible Scholar, you will notice that each time the lord or an angel appear to a saint, the first word spoken is always “fear not”. To walk with God, you have to learn how to fear not Luke 1:11-13

”And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the alter of incense. And when Zechariah saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him. But the angel said unto him, fear not …”

‘Fear not’ is almost always the first statement from God when He begins to make a personal contact with you at the level of the supernatural. It happened to Mary the same way. Luke1: 26-30.

“And in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God …to a virgin… Mary. And the angel said unto her, fear not, Mary: for thou has found favor with God.”

Even when He appeared to Cornelius, he was afraid and the angel had to calm him down by telling him that God had noticed his prayers and ways of life. If you too want to begin to flow in the realm of the supernatural; you must ‘fear not’, whatever the experience. If it is pleased the Lord to visit you through an angel, you must not fear. Another thing is doubt. Somebody said that doubt is the thief of God’s greater blessing. When you receive precious promises from God, believe and do not doubt. Heb. 10:35-36 reads

“Cast not away therefore your confidence which hath great recompense of reward. For ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.”

Faith is a powerful tool; it will help you in your in the realm of supernatural. Faith in God moves mountain while doubt makes you sink deep into the sea. Cast not your confidence, which you have, in His word and in His promises for your future, hold fast unto the word of His promise. It is very important for you to note these hindrances to the flow, you must be determined, and never to allow any hindrance make you forfeit the benefit of flowing in the supernatural. I therefore urge you to hinder the hindrances and you shall really excel in the realm of the miraculous
